Ingredients:

450gms Amla (gooseberries)

1/4 cup water
-
2 cups sugar
-
1tsp. cardamom seeds(crushed)

1/4th tsp. turmeric powder
-
2-inch piece of cinnamon stick

1/2 bay leaf
Preparation:

Wash and stem the amla .

Combine with water in a heavy saucepan and place over high heat.

When water starts boiling add sugar and stir
constantly till sugar melts.

Reduce the heat to low and add remaining
ingredients, and simmer until the amla's are clear and the juice gets thick,
about 15 minutes.

Remove the whole spices.

Cool it to room temperature, transfer it to a
glass jar and seal well.

Store, refrigerated, for up to 2 weeks.
