II    Matar Paneer II
Cottage Cheese and Peas Curry 

Pressure Cooking Time : 2 Minutes

Ingredients: ( Serves : 6-8)

  • 500 gms. Paneer (Cottage Cheese), cut into 2 inch cubes
  • 4 medium Onions, grated
  • 10 gms. Ginger
  • 6 flakes Garlic
  • 2 large Tomatoes, pureed
  • 1 tsp. Turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp. Coriander powder
  • 1tbsp. Cumin powder
  • 1 tsp. Red chilli powder or to taste
  • 1/2 tsp. Garam Masala powder
  • 1 tbsp. Salt or to taste
  • 1 cup Vegetable oil
  • 21/2 cups Water
  • 1 tbsp. coriander leaves, chopped

Preperation :

  • Grind together ginger and garlic to paste.
  • Group paneer into 3-4 batches. Heat oil in cooker. Fry paneer cubes till light brown, in batches and remove. Drain off excess oil leaving 1/2 cup in cooker.
  • Place cooker on high heat and add onions, fry till golden brown.
  • Add ginger-garlic paste. Stir for a few seconds. Add turmeric, red chilli powder, coriander powder,salt and cumin powder. Saute for few seconds and add pureed tomatoes and 1/4 cup water. Cook till oil starts showing up, stirring occasionally.
  • Add peas. Stir and fry for about 2 minutes. Add remaining water.
  • Close cooker. Bring to full pressure with slight lifting of the vent weight.
  • Open cooker. Place cooker with peas on medium heat. Add paneer and simmer for about 5 minutes. Stir in garam masala powder.
  • Serve hot garnished with coriander leaves.
