II Matar Mushroom Pulao II

Serves : 6

  • 21/2 cups Long Grain (Basmati) Rice
  • 3/4th cup Petite Green Peas (chotti matar)
  • 2/3 rd cup Button Mushrooms
  • 1 Medium Tomato
  • 3 cups Water
  • 1 tbsp. Oil
  • 1/2 tbsp. Cumin seeds
  • 1 Black Cardamom
  • 1 inch piece of Cinnamon
  • 5 cups water


  • Clean, wash, soak (for 30 minutes) and drain the rice.
  • In a medium sized heavy pan heat the oil and add cumin seeds, cardamom and cinnamon stick.
  • Add tomatoes, mushrooms and salt. stir fry for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the drained rice and green peas. Mix gently.
  • Add the water and bring to boil. Lower the heat, cover and cook until rice is fully cooked and water is fully absorbed.
  • Serve hot.
