-
Wash the rice with water properly using palms
and drain the water.
-
Repeat the process 3-4 times, every time
changing water.
-
Soak rice in enough water and keep aside for 15
minutes.
There are two methods of preparing rice.
The First Method :
-
On the gas, place plenty of water to boil.
-
Drain out the water from the rice and add it to
the boiling water.
-
Add salt to it.
-
When it starts boiling low down the flame of the
gas and cover it partially.
-
Keep an eye, to check take a grain and press it
between fingers.
-
If done, remove and drain out the water
completely.
Note:
Do not throw the remaining water as it can be
used as to starch clothes.
The Second Method :
-
Take
rice in a pressure cooker.
-
Add salt and water to it. (Water should be 1/4th
finger above the rice.)
-
Cover and cook.
-
Allow 1 whistle.
-
Switch off the gas and allow steam to come out
fully before opening.
Note:
Do not throw away the leftover water as it can be used for kneading chapati or
paratha dough.
Tip:
Add a few drops of lemon a tsp. of oil to
rice before boiling to seperate each grain.
