The Nanakshahi (ਨਾਨਕਸ਼ਾਹੀ) calendar is the offical
sikh calendar. It is a solar calendar that was
adopted by the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak
Committee. The name of this calendar is taken
from Guru Nanak, founder of Sikhism.
The Jain calendar is a “Lunisolar” calendar. It is
based on the position of the Moon with respect to
the Earth and it is adjusted by adding an extra
month once every three years, ,to coincide with the

Purnima (also called Poornima,
Sanskrit: पूर्णिमा) is the full moon day in
traditional Hindu calendar. Poornima is associated
with prosperity and divinity. It is considered a
highly auspicious day by Hindus and some people in
India even fast on Poornima and pray to Lord Vishnu.

Amavasya (अमावस्या), in Hindu mythology, means is a name given to the New Moon or no moon’s night.The Hindu calendar follows the lunar month and Amavasya, the new moon night, falls at the beginning of new lunar month which lasts for about 30 days.

Sankranti (संक्राति) means 'sacred changes,' migration of the Sun from one Rashi (zodiac in Indian astrology) to another. In Hindu calendar there are 12 Sankranti's in a year. According to Solar Calendar, followed in most of the southern Indian states, Sankranti marks the beginning of a month.

Ekadashi
(एकादशी) is a sacred day, occuring twice a month in the Hindu calendar - on the eleventh day of the bright half - called Shukla Paksha and on the eleventh of the dark half called Vad or Krishna Paksha. It is observed as a fast day by many Hindus.

Shivratri is great festival of convergence of Shiva and Shakti. Maas Shivaratri or Masik Shivratri is celebrated in every month according to Hindu lunar calender. Every month, it is celebrated on the Chaturdashi Tithi during Krishna Paksha.

Pradosh
(प्रदोष) means the dusk of the early night or evening tide. This fast is observed in the evening twilight, and so it is called Pradosh Vrat
(प्रदोष व्रत). It is observed on the 13th day of each lunar fortnight.
It is practicised to propitate Lord Shiva.
